My sister, her husband and I decided to do the Reindeer Run 5k in a nearby town, Fayetteville, TN. It was cold. When I checked before the race it was 35 degrees. So of course I overdressed. I had to get up at 4 am to drive to their house to meet them. At this point I’m really thinking I am crazy!!! Who gets up at 4 am in the freezing cold to run?
After running a half just a few weeks ago, this 5k seemed shorter. I suppose I was used to running longer distances like 5, 10, and 13 miles- so 3.1 seems like a walk in the park!
After half a mile, I removed my jacket and ear muff headband. You would think I would learn not to overdress for cooler temps! My foot did fine during the race, but got sore afterwards. Let the limping begin! On the plus side, I do like being able to breathe easier during cold weather running.
3 more races to go in November!!!
It was a fun race – even though the hills were torture! And all three of us got a PR!!! 🏆👏👏👏🏆
